Wadden Sea National Park
Schleswig-Holstein’s Wadden Sea National Park is one of 14 in Germany and the largest anywhere between the North Cape and Sicily. But not only its size but also the sheer endlessness of its wide-open spaces between beach and horizon make this national park a unique attraction. Every step you take can be a step into another world of experience. The park contains habitats for seals, hundreds of thousands of sea birds and billions of small and microscopic marine animals. The park offers oodles of free space in which to walk off the daily stress, free the soul, find new vitality and be at one with nature.The Wadden Sea National Park Authorities allow traditional utilisation of natural resources such as shrimp and mussel fishing. But the Park’s economic potential lies not only there: the National Park’s true capital lies in its fascinating and unspoilt, natural scenery that makes it a very appealing place for tourists to stroll along the beach, swim in the sea, walk across the mudflats, take boat trips to the seal colonies and go birdwatching in the marshland.
