Open-air Dyke Museum - "Deichfreilichtmuseum"
This is a museum visit of a quite different kind. In Büsum’s Open-air Dyke Museum visitors can learn all about the history of the sea dykes along the West Coast from as far back as 1200 right up into the 21st century. Display boards explain to visitors the most important aspects of the science and art of dyke construction. Learn all about the various types of dyke and see how they have developed over the centuries. Three reconstructions of dykes from the years 1200, 1600 and 1800 show how much dykes have changes throughout the ages. The Museum is open 365 days a year.
